About This Image
Location: San Juan Mountains, CO
I’ve visited this valley many times over the years—always during fall, always hoping to time it just right. But somehow, the scene never quite lined up. The color would still be turning, or the wildlife would already have passed through. I began to wonder if I’d ever catch this place at its peak.
But nature doesn’t always follow a schedule. Sometimes, it surprises you in ways you couldn’t plan for.
On this particular visit, the aspens were beginning to shift, painting the forest with patches of gold. It still felt early. Quiet. I wasn’t expecting much. But then, I heard it—a haunting, echoing bugle from a nearby ridge. A bull elk, calling out into the crisp air.
It was late for the rut. Most had already played their part in the mountain symphony. But this one wasn’t done yet.
I moved quietly, tucked myself into the trees, and waited.
A few moments later, another bugle rang out—this time behind me. It was closer, stronger, more urgent. And then, as if summoned by the story unfolding in the wind, he emerged.
He strode confidently into the valley, his voice rising once more in challenge to any rival who might be near. His call echoed through the mountains—powerful, ancient, and wild.
This image, Mountain Song, captures that moment—the stillness of the land, the rising light, and the voice of the wild echoing through the golden forest. A reminder that sometimes, the best moments come not when you plan them, but when you listen and wait.

Limited Edition vs Open Edition
Our Limited Edition prints are produced using a unique, high-resolution printing process that captures maximum detail, depth, and color accuracy—far superior to traditional methods used for open edition prints. Each piece is hand-signed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring its rarity and value.
Open Edition prints, while still high-quality, do not have a set production limit and are printed using traditional methods. They are a great way to enjoy Riley Clark’s work at a more accessible price, but they do not carry the same exclusivity or premium detail as the museum-quality Limited Editions.

Tips for Choosing the Right Size Art
🖼 Bigger is (usually) better
If you’re hanging above a sofa, bed, or fireplace, aim for a print that’s around 60–75% of the furniture’s width. It’ll feel more balanced and make a stronger statement.
📏 Measure twice, decorate once
Tape out dimensions on your wall using painter’s tape to visualize different sizes. This quick step can save a lot of guesswork.
📲 Use the AR Preview Tool
See exactly how each piece will look on your wall—framed, finished, and true to scale. It’s like a fitting room for your art.
🖤 Go with your gut
Some rooms call for subtle, others for bold. Trust your instinct and let your space guide you.
