About This Image

Location: Redwoods National Park

Photographing forests like this has never come easily to me.

At first glance, it all feels like beautiful chaos—layers of foliage, texture, shadow, and light pulling your attention in a dozen different directions. There’s no obvious subject. No neat composition begging to be framed. It demands patience, stillness, and a trained eye to bring harmony to the wild.

But I’ve come to love that challenge.

Over the years, as I’ve grown as a photographer, I’ve come to see forest photography as a mirror for my development. It reveals how far I’ve come—not just in technical skill, but in the way I see the world. Where I once saw clutter, I now see opportunity. Where I once rushed, I now wait. Forests demand a different kind of awareness. A slower one. A more intentional one.

This image, Ancient Giants, is the result of that shift.

Walking through the redwoods is like entering a cathedral built by time. The scale alone is humbling. Light filters in like a whispered secret. Ferns curl up from the earth like offerings to the trees above. And then, slowly, a composition reveals itself—not by force, but by presence.

I spent a long time here, letting the forest guide me instead of the other way around. Eventually, this scene spoke to me—the texture of the bark, the rhythm of the trunks, the way light traced the greenery just enough to create depth without distraction.

It’s one of my favorite images not just because of how it looks, but because of what it represents. Growth. Stillness. Seeing differently.

This is what it feels like to stand among ancient giants—and to finally listen.

Limited Edition vs Open Edition

Our Limited Edition prints are produced using a unique, high-resolution printing process that captures maximum detail, depth, and color accuracy—far superior to traditional methods used for open edition prints. Each piece is hand-signed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring its rarity and value.

Open Edition prints, while still high-quality, do not have a set production limit and are printed using traditional methods. They are a great way to enjoy Riley Clark’s work at a more accessible price, but they do not carry the same exclusivity or premium detail as the museum-quality Limited Editions.

Tips for Choosing the Right Size Art

🖼 Bigger is (usually) better

If you’re hanging above a sofa, bed, or fireplace, aim for a print that’s around 60–75% of the furniture’s width. It’ll feel more balanced and make a stronger statement.

📏 Measure twice, decorate once

Tape out dimensions on your wall using painter’s tape to visualize different sizes. This quick step can save a lot of guesswork.

📲 Use the AR Preview Tool

See exactly how each piece will look on your wall—framed, finished, and true to scale. It’s like a fitting room for your art.

🖤 Go with your gut

Some rooms call for subtle, others for bold. Trust your instinct and let your space guide you.
